Biography
Caroline (von Lengefeld) von Wolzogen is Notable.
Caroline was born in 1763. She was the daughter of Carl Christoph von Lengefeld and Luise Juliane Eleonore Frederike, née von Wurmb.
About 1784 she married first Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig von Beulwitz in Eichicht near Kaulsdorf. Because they did not have any offspring and Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig needed a male heir, they decided to separate about 1790 and divorced in 1794.
In 1787 Wilhelm von Wolzogen introduced his friend Friedrich Schiller to his cousins Caroline and Charlotte von Lengefeld in Rudolstadt. Friedrich befriended both, and in 1790 he married Charlotte.
Caroline was a writer. She wrote her first novel, Agnes von Lilien, in 1793. It was published anonymously in installments in Schiller's periodical Die Horen from 1796 to 1797.
In 1794 Caroline married second Wilhelm von Wolzogen, who thus became Friedrich Schiller's brother-in-law. Wilhelm and Caroline had one son:
- Adolf (1795-1825).
Among Caroline's major works was a biography of Friedrich Schiller, Schillers Leben, published in 1830. She passed away in 1847.[1]
